Chris Liggins

Tel: 01530 451215

Chris was born in London and moved into the area when she was in her teens. Although always considering herself a believer she only started attending church when she became a Brownie Leader, attending the monthly church parades. Drawn in by the welcome and friendliness offered to her by St David’s she discovered true faith in the late 1980s and was confirmed at the cathedral. She has served on the PCC for many years and was drawn to the office of churchwarden this year.

Chris has two daughters, one living with her family in Australia, and four grandchildren and works in the local school nursery.

Chris is a member of the worship team and is organising the St David’s Summer Fair this year.

John Allwood

After having her children she had a strong desire to go back to church, but found it difficult to pluck up the courage to do so. Then, after an invitation from someone she knew, she started to come to St David’s where she found the people welcoming and friendly. She was confirmed in 1988 and started to attend St. David’s regularly. Over the years she has been involved in many aspects of church life and the people of St. David’s have become like a second family.

A number of years ago, Mary felt called by God to the role of Churchwarden and she is still serving him in this way. She is also part of the Worship Team and a member of the Pastoral Link visiting team.

Pastoral Assistant

Tel: 01530 450260

Jenny was born in the small village of Pity Me just outside the City of Durham and attended a Methodist Chapel. At the age of 13 the family relocated to Bolsover, Derbyshire, where she became an active member of the local Anglican Church where she was confirmed. In 1973 she married David and together had a son and daughter.

In 1987 the family moved to Coalville, Leicestershire, and from 1998 Jenny worked as a Special Needs Teacher in the local Sixth Form College, as well as practicing part time in a local Christian Counselling centre, specialising in working with the elderly, young children and teenagers as an Accredited Pastoral Counsellor. Jenny retired from both in 2016.

Moving from Bolsover to Coalville brought her and the family to St David’s Church. She is currently a PCC member and part of the Pastoral Link Visiting Scheme. Jenny is also one of the leaders in Café Church and part of the team of After School Church and Open the Book. She loves singing and is part of the Church choir. Her Christian faith along with members of St David’s Church family has been her strength and support and she sees St David’s as an extended family.

After a deepening of her faith Jenny followed God’s calling to become a Pastoral Assistant, and was licensed in Leicester Cathedral in October 2017 to work within St David’s Church Broom Leys.

email:  rhydemonk@yahoo.com

Rachel was born in Oadby, Leicestershire and through her younger years spent her time travelling to different churches with her family to accompany her dad who was an evangelist lay preacher. She knew Jesus from a little girl and verbally gave her life to him at the age of 9, however it wasn’t until she got baptised at the age of 28 that she realised the true gift and grace of Jesus for herself and in the last 20 years has been a member of Sileby church helping in all areas to include leading worship and welcome.  Her passion however is young people and she was a leader of the 11-16 year old group for many years.

Rachel moved to Whitwick in early 2017 and lives with her husband Peter and 3 dogs.   After moving to this area she felt moved by the Holy Spirit to take on the role of Youth Worker for the two local churches of St David’s Church, Broom Leys and St John The Baptist Church, Whitwick under Living Stones Mission Partnership together with Heartland Youth For Christ in Coalville.  She started this work at the beginning of 2018.
