MEN’S WALK - JUNE 15th 2011

A group of ten men met at St. David’s to travel to Thornton Reservoir for a gentle evening walk.

Afterwards most of us enjoyed a lovely meal at the ‘Bricklayer’s Arms’ in Thornton village, the steak & mushroom pies were enormous but delicious. However one intrepid walker decided to try the ‘Malaysian Beef Curry’ - and found it almost too hot to eat - a jug of pouring cream helped to cool it down a bit, much to the hilarity of all except the person eating it (who shall remain nameless except that we all advised him to warn neighbours in Sharpley Avenue to keep their windows closed!) The evening ended with an unexpected performance by the Leicester Morris Dancers. Thanks to Adrian Bristoll and Alan Liggins for organising the event. Most of us can’t wait for the next one planned for WEDNESDAY 14th SEPTEMBER!

On the way from the pub down to the reservoir - the water level was very low as can be seen in the picture.

Dobbin watched us warily as we passed by.

The Morris Men started their dancing at 9.00pm. Hope no-one was asleep.

On 1st June 2011 JOAN ALLEN celebrated her 90th birthday with a meal with friends at a local hostelry.

All her friends at St. David's send their love and best wishes for the future.
