A Message from Andy and Kath

A thank-you letter from Lutterworth

We have finally moved home and arrived in Lutterworth where we have managed to  squeeze our belongings into our new home (which used to be our old home 10 years ago), even though many items have gone to the November Fair and those in poor shape to the recycling centre.

Kath & I wanted to express our thanks to you all for the send-off you gave to us on the occasion of our retirement. I was so overwhelmed at your generosity of gifts, cheque and really kind words in cards and the book that we have received, that I didn’t quite know what to say at the Lunch. ‘Lost for words’ summed up how I was feeling!

The words of the rhyme written for us and sung so beautifully will be framed and placed in our new home, with the picture presented to us by George and with all the gifts, will be a reminder of the love we have for the people of St David’s, my one and only Church!

It had been an emotional week leading up to our last service on Sunday 13th October. Warren Hills primary school presented us with a book of pictures drawn by the children of themselves and a gift of National Trust membership for one year, followed by cakes and coffee afterwards. Broom Leys school surprised me and took over the Open the Book assembly (only known by Iain Allen who let me rehearse before the assembly!) and sang to us ending with ‘This little light of mine’ and presented us with cards and gifts for our garden, including a trowel.

After School Church created a card for us and Brigade treated us royally with a wonderful afternoon tea (in the evening) and presented us with an engraved vase and a plaque of the Brigade prayer, all of which will be treasured by us.

Our final service together as Vicar and congregation was very special to me and to Kath, thank you for your love and support in Christ.

The solar powered fountain will fit nicely into our garden where there will be a prayer spot to meet with our Saviour in peace and quiet with the plaque of ‘streams of living water’ and the other garden gifts. The afternoon tea at Kilworth house is yet to be savoured with the sherry and glasses and the cheque will be used, as you have suggested, for a new ‘proper’ television.

It has been an honour and a privilege to be called to testify to the good news of God’s grace amongst you and may his Holy Spirit flow amongst you. You are in our prayers every morning.

With our love and blessings in Christ.

Andy & Kath October 2019.
