Message for July 2018

We Trust God For All That Is To Come

For many of us our lives are made up of anniversaries of one sort or another. Birthdays, wedding anniversaries and all manner of celebrations come round on a regular basis. Indeed my family will be celebrating later this month, as we all gather together for my father’s 90th birthday.

But this year has also been crowded with anniversaries, many of them sad ones as we’ve remembered the lives lost in Grenfell Tower a year ago, we’ve remembered the lives lost in the attack at the Manchester Arena and we’ve remembered the lives lost in the attack on Tower Bridge and Borough Market. At these times we also remember before God those who are injured and caught up in any way and thank God for those willing to put their own lives in danger for the sake of others. Later this year we will also remember the many millions who gave up so much for others during the First World War as we reach the 100th anniversary of the end of that bloody conflict.

This month also marks the 4th anniversary of my beginning as your curate. In that time I have grown and changed so much that I am sure I am almost unrecognisable as the person who arrived four years ago.

This is all thanks to a mixture of different things, a bit like a Bake Off recipe, including:

It is a truth I have spoken many times over; my being here is only as a result of all the help, prayer, support and encouragement I have received on my journey.

As I look forward to the next step that I am being led towards:

I pray that God will continue to use you all in his service, leading you to the people, places and works that need you and are planned for you. I pray too that God will continue to pour his blessings upon you and the community in which you are set, using this church community to be a blessing to those around you. Amen.

Reverend Neil Griffiths.
