Rather than do a few at a time – aim to have enough done and plan a put up your panel day in the park for people to get involved with installing.

Resources required

Large roll of paper cut into templates, pens or paints

Samples on wood of already completed people to inspire

Dividing Pallet Planters

Prepared and installed prior to community involvement. These can be made into low level dividing walls to add interest and colour

Ready to be planted with flowers; strawberries, herbs on a Coalville Community Garden day

Resources required

Pallets, preservative, fence fixings to install into ground to secure them.

Liners, compost, plants

Here is a summary of where we are with our NWLDC Coalville Heroes – Food Heroes and our LCC Shire Grant project #GrowLocal # EatSocial project

In a quick recap we are aiming to stop food waste, encourage people to have a go at growing fruit & veg, create a community garden in Coalville Park as a learning and play resource, launch community meals using donated food to keep costs lower, make food a sharing experience within families and communities, tackle loneliness and improve skills and wellbeing… we started talking to people in June 2016, we currently have a survey out in the community about food, we have checked that what we are proposing fits with feedback received, secured funds up to the end of December 2017 to deliver an exciting vibrant project…

We are getting to point where we think a potential volunteers & partners meeting might be useful, the next email we send out will have the details of this and we hope many of you will be able to come along.

I have attached to this email some information I thought might be useful and below is a rough timetable for delivery.

As you can see we will need a few willing volunteers to make all these things happen, if you are interested in becoming a volunteer with Coalville Heroes – or you know someone 16 and over who might be interested we can offer the following : DBS check, Induction and Training, Food Hygiene Certificate, references for employers or university personal statements and of course the chance to be part of the decision making and direction of these activities. Coalville Heroes are what we are looking for, those people who make things happen…SEE THE INFORMATION BELOW.
